It engages in owning, operating and managing prisons and other correctional facilities and providing inmate residential and prisoner transportation services for governmental agencies. It offers a variety of rehabilitation and educational programs, including basic education, life skills and employment training and substance abuse treatment. The company also provides inmates health care including medical, dental and psychiatric services, food services and work and recreational programs. It operates business through two segments: Owned and Managed Correctional and Detention Facilities and Managed-Only Correctional and Detention Facilities. The company was founded by Thomas W. Beasley, T. Don Hutto and Robert Crants on January 28, 1983 and is headquartered in Nashville, TN.
