HomeStreet, Inc. is principally engaged in real estate lending, including mortgage banking activities, and commercial and consumer banking. The company operates its business in two business segments: Commercial and Consumer Banking and Mortgage Banking. The Commercial and Consumer Banking segment provides diversified financial products and services to commercial and consumer customers through personal service at bank branches and through ATMs, online, mobile and telephone banking. These products and services include deposit products; residential, consumer and business portfolio loans; investment products; insurance products and cash management services and originate residential and commercial construction loans, bridge loans and permanent loans for the company's portfolio primarily on single family residences, and on office, retail, industrial and multifamily property types. The Mortgage Banking segment originates and purchases single family mortgage loans for sale in the secondary markets. It also purchase mortgage loans from WMS LLC through a correspondent arrangement with that company. The company manage the loan funding and the interest rate risk associated with the secondary market loan sales and the retained servicing rights within this business segment. The company was founded in 1921 and is headquartered in Seattle, WA.
