Public Service Electric & Gas is an operating public utility engaged principally in the transmission of electricity and distribution of electricity and natural gas in certain areas of New Jersey. It also invests in solar generation projects and has implemented energy efficiency and demand response programs in New Jersey. The company's other direct wholly owned subsidiaries include PSEG Energy Holdings LLC, which primarily has investments in leveraged leases; PSEG Long Island LLC, which operates the Long Island Power Authority's transmission and distribution system under a contractual agreement; and PSEG Services Corp., which provides certain management, administrative and general services to PSEG and its subsidiaries. The company's business consists of two reportable segments: its principal direct wholly owned subsidiaries, which are: Power and PSE&G. The company was founded in 1903 and is headquartered in Newark, NJ.
